I just looked back

THIS TUESDAY WILL BE THE ANNIVERSARY OF WHEN I STARTED THIS THING!  MAYBE THIS YEAR I WILL MAKE A BETTER EFFORT TO BE CONSISTENT WITH HOW OFTEN I POST SOMETHING.

I was thinking about my trip down here.  I think the most interesting thing I recall seeing along the way was an advertisement for bomb shelters.  No joke.  I found that to be a little disturbing.  I have also seen numerous names of streets that I wish I could remember more clearly, but many are street names with Spanish influence with words like "calle" "camino" or "avenida" built in (street, way, or avenue for those who are not familiar with Spanish).  It makes sense that would be part of the surroundings because it is so close to Mexico and it was here WELL BEFORE the current government regime.

On that topic, BTW, I continue to hear from many politicians from BOTH parties that President Trump is running farther and farther away from being in charge of the longest standing democracy in history.  He seems to have no concept in his brain especially about the Constitution.  Quite often he has gone ahead with decisions on his own and did not consult his cabinet nor Congress.  This most recent piece in Venezuela is at the prime focus right now.  What he did was not only violate the Constitution's rules, he went against the United Nations -- a world-wide body of ambassadors from all countries -- that really should be handing down sanctions against the US.  Face it - the man is a total menace to society.  If things don't change soon, he will overtake the world's worst leader position from Vladimir Putin.  Putin rules by fear.  Donald is trying to make that reality for anyone whom HE says doesn't belong here.  Instead, he seems to be succeeding in creating a culture of rebellion, and NOT just one sided rebellion as there was on January 6, 2020.  No, there is a rebellious way about the people who live here in the US whether by birth or legally with documentation.  And at least some of the press is helping to fuel that rebellion.

Trump's paranoia and his sociopathic narcissism are not a good combination for the greatest country on the planet.  Maybe that is why I am becoming more and more enamored with outer space again.

Yes.  Space.  The final frontier.  These are not the voyages of the starship Enterprise.  There are still people who would love to be able to find another inhabitable planet with opportunities for sustaining life.  Recently, when I was watching a rerun of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" during their segment "scenes from a hat," the category was Deleted Scenes from Star Trek.  Ryan Stiles said to Colin Mochrie "So there's no life on this planet either, and we've been doing this for 25 years?"  And yet, MORE recently there has been a video I've seen about how a deep space discovery by Voyager 2 could completely rewrite our understanding of outer space and the origins of the universe.  The videos I come across are great.  However, since I am normally on the phone watching them, I don't make it to the end of the videos.  As usual, if you want to know more, subscribe.  There is ALWAYS a catch.  It's not something I intend on doing.  However, I might just see that as the best option for humanity's survival.  The president obviously doesn't care about human beings.  I think he believes HE is God.

  1. Things have not gotten better since you posted this. I can hardly stand it. I am not going to buy a bomb shelter, but am thinking about survival straws like Lifestraw. That alone is a sad indictment of the state of our country and the fragility of our social structure.
