Happy St. Joseph's Day
Yes, I realize I missed posting on Monday for St. Patrick's Day, and then yesterday for St. Cyril of Jerusalem (another great doctor of the church). I apologize for my tardiness.
Monday was not an easy day just because things were busier than normal. Yesterday, I just was not inspired to write.
Today, however, I have something that needs to be commented on -- the Cubs.😅
Yes, their season has officially begun as they had two games against the Dodgers in Tokyo. Unfortunately, they lost both games, i.e., they are already 0 and 2. It's probably not a really good representation of what our team is capable of, however.
The Cub starting lineup is packed with talent. There is only one rookie who may start the year on the main roster. They also still have many of the pitchers they had last year. While Justin Steele was not truly on his game today in Japan, he is still a great starter. Add on Shota Imanaga, Jameson Tallion, Matthew Boyd, Jordan Wicks, and Colin Rea, and you have a very solid rotation. And they will be even better when Javier Assad returns from injury.
Catching might be considered a weakness for many people as neither catcher has much power. They are both very good defensive catchers. Miguel Amaya and Carson Kelly will still be assets.
If you have Michael Busch, John Berti (in place of an injured Nico Hoerner), Dansby Swanson, and the rookie Michael Shaw as your starting infield, that is not a bad lineup.
Our outfield is probably our most solid asset with Ian Happ, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Michael Tucker. All are good hitters with power and all very good defenders.
With Seiya Suzuki and Justin Turner to DH, I would say they will do well.
